Photographer and writer Ira Spring's contributed to more than forty books on the outdoors, including many in The Mountaineers Books' 100 Hikes in {TM} series. He co-founded Washington Trails Association and served on its Board of Directors for 21 years. One of the Northwest's most active trail lobbyists, Spring was given the 1992 Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Award for his volunteer efforts toward trail preservation and funding, and in 2002 established the Spring Family Trust for Trails.
