Our hiking group attempted to hike the Lake Mills Trail on the upper Elwha during the stormy weather the week of the 16th. We encountered several trees down and the small streams that cross the trail were at flood stage blocking us from continuing.
Note the attached picture: We walked over to the dam and this is what we encountered; a massive escape of water from the lake. Only one gate was open which created a spectacle of sight, sound and a refreshing watery fragrance.
